Dr. John H. Braccio talks with Dave Akerly on the “Morning Wake-Up With Dave Akerly” radio show, on 1/15/19 on WLNS, 1320 a.m. in Lansing, Michigan about A CONTROVERSIAL REPORT ON MASCULINITY FROM THE AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION. I am amazed at how many psychologists and others have criticized this report. The main complaint is that traditional male strengths are reported as negative and could be used as a blueprint for therapy. Assuming it is true men are less likely to seek therapy, this would surely expand the divide. It also seems to demean a male as a protector and primary financial supporter of the wife and children if that traditional role is accepted by both spouses. A further complaint is that a current ideological view of the world is the foundation of the report and not traditional solid research and peer review.
