Dr. John H. Braccio talks with Dave Akerly on the “Morning Wake-Up With Dave Akerly” Radio Show, on 2/7/17 on WILS, 1320 a.m.in Lansing, Michigan about HOW PARENTS CAN PROTECT THEIR mersin anamur eskort bayanları CHILREN FROM POSSIBLE SEXUAL ABUSE. At a time a local doctor, Dr. Larry Nasser, is accused of sexually abusing many persons under age over many years, they agree nothing is worse than sexually abusing a child. Parents need to begin talking to their children as early as two years old to let them know that their private parts are special and it is wrong for others to touch them unless it’s a parent or another appropriate person. They also must know they cannot touch the private parts of others. Because some children when young may not be able to identify their private parts that may have been inappropriately touched, we need to teach young children to name the parts of their body to avoid any confusion. Parents need to know that the projected odds are that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually molested before they attain eighteen years old. Good, open, sensitive, and accepting communication between children and parents is critical. Parents and children after sexual abuse too often sadly walk the tragic line between outrage and despair. They feel powerless to change the past. Parents need to contact the police, a teacher, medical staff, or go to emergency if they believe sexual abuse has occurred. State law requires all medical, educational, and mental health workers to report possible sexual abuse. In a difficult world for so many children, we must do all we can do to eliminate sexual abuse and the possible horrible effects on the lives of any sexually abused children.
