MAY CITIZENS PLEASE ACCEPT AND BE RESPECTFUL OF ELECTION RESULTS. Citizens need to remember and focus on the great ongoing experiment that is the United States. With the pandemic and two very different views for the direction of the country, there is a lot of anxiety. The American Psychological Association says two-thirds of Americans currently have anxiety during this election period. The condition is being called ELECTION STRESS DISORDER. Nothing is perfect on earth, yet we keep trying to be better and millions of persons year after year come to our beloved country to take part in this historically unique experiment of our Republic and joyfully become citizens. I emotionally remember seeing the tears of my Cuban-born wife and parents the day we celebrated the day they became proud citizens. This has been repeated over the past two centuries by millions of persons from every continent on the planet and continues to this day As President Reagan warned us,our form of government can be lost in one generation. Let us rejoice in our ability to vote for our president and other elected citizens. Let us be civilized and respect the votes of our common fellow citizens. Let winners and losers in this election remember they are Americans first and members of political parties a distant second. For emphasis,we must remember this. A nation Balkanized into warring groups with the constant bloodletting-like reopening of ancient and new psychological wounds and grievances cannot long stand without destroying itself. There will then be no peace in the present and a guarantee for a horrible future. The past six months gives rise to concern we can rise to the challenge and do this. I believe each of us needs to put our hurt, worry, frustration and even anger away and be courteous and respectful to the half of the country we even strongly disagree. We need to understand each other. We honestly need to express how we feel without fear of brutal censure. This leads to no fruitful discussion and a growing bifurcation of the country with the horrible threat of Balkanization which could sadly end the dream of one nation of unified Americans. We cannot allow this to happen. Then we can work together to problem-solve and bring back some sanity to our beloved nation and jointly try to fulfill the Declaration of Independence promissory note Reverend Martin Luther King said stated the “promise that all men, yes, black men as well of white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Back to the first statement, which I believe the vast majority of Americans will observe: MAY CITIZENS PLEASE ACCEPT AND BE RESPECTFUL OF ELECTION RESULTS. P.S WHAT AN ASTONISHING AND EXHILARATING EXPERIENCE WAS THE WIN IN ANN ARBOR! I am very happy for Coach Tucker, his coaches and the terrific players!
