Dr. John H. Braccio talks with Dave Akerly on the “Morning Wake-Up With Dave Akerly” radio show, on 1/29/19 on WLNS, 1320 a.m. in Lansing, Michigan about HOW TO EFFECTIVELY DISTINGUISH BETWEEN POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ANGER IN A RELATIONSHIP. One of the biggest and most corrosive problems in relationships is anger. It destroys communication and often ends up causing great unhappiness and even ending the relationship. It is important for couples to learn how to deal with anger in an effective manner. Anger is quite useful if a person is treated unfairly or something has happened in their life that causes legitimate anger. Illegitimate anger is when someone tries to dominate and control someone else or just somebody who is picky, complaining and always finding fault trying to control the other person. Persons need to discuss their feelings in a manner that can problem solve and allow them to live effectively together. Compassion, love and understanding are very import in any successful marriage that effectively deals with anger issues. If they do not do this and love is leaving the relationship and being replaced with toxic anger, then they need to find ways to discuss what can be done to resolve the problems. If they cannot do this, then they need to consider meeting with a minister/priest, therapist or psychologist to try to find ways to resolve their anger problems. If they do not do this, that there is a good chance the relationship will end in a very unhappy manner.
