Dr. John H. Braccio talks with Dave Akerly on the “Morning Wake-Up With Dave Akerly” radio show, on 2/19/19 on WLNS, 1320 a.m. in Lansing, Michigan about HOW TO STOP FEELING LONELY. To begin with, active social media with no human physical contact can make you feel more lonely because there is no human contact and the communication is artificial and not the same as when you see and hug the person with whom you are interacting. Things to do include: Be kind and understanding of yourself. Focus on anything positive in your life. Call friends and family and see them again as is possible for joining organization, social group, or a church group you have an interest and get involved. Focus on the needs of others and not yourself. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Remember and pay attention to the persons and events that have been very important in your life. Join an online group of people with the same worldview you have for good positive interaction. Volunteer and do activities you have a true interest and through the interaction enjoy human personal interaction. These suggestions and others that you come across in your daily life can help turn your feeling lonely into feeling satisfied and happy with the necessary human interaction that makes you feel good and positive.
