Dr. John H. Braccio talks with Dave Akerly on the “Morning Wake-Up With Dave Akerly” Radio Show, on 4/3/18 on WILS, 1320 a.m.in Lansing, Michigan karatay olgun bayan about WHY HUMILITY IS IMPORTANT IN ALL OF US. Arrogance and vanity are the opposites of humility. Humility is not self-depredation or groveling on our knees to others. It is rather an individual’s ability to appreciate whatever skills, rewards, material possessions, talents and intellectual abilities are his or hers to share and use to help others. A proverb my mother often stated was, TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN MUCH WILL BE EXPECTED. Even though it is biblical does not minimize its importance for all human beings. Humility in those with great gifts will enhance them as human beings and will enhance the self-esteem of others with less skills by being treated with respect and dignity. A few good quotations on humility are as follows:

  1. Love not what you are but what you may become. (No ames lo que tu eres, sino lo que puedes llegar a ser). Cervantes.
  2. A true genius admits he/she knows nothing. Albert Einstein.
  3. Never look down on anyone and know everyone can teach you something about life from their experiences. Anthony A. Braccio.
  4. In the course of my life, i have often had to eat my words, and I must confess that I have always found it a wholesome diet. Winston Churchill.
  5. True humility does not know that it is humble. Luther.
  6. A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been wrong, which is but saying in other words that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.        Alexander Pope
