Dr. John H. Braccio talks with Dave Akerly on the “Morning Wake-Up With Dave Akerly” radio show, on 3/5/19 on WLNS, 1320 a.m. in Lansing, Michigan aboutHAVING A JOB OR CAREER THEY ENJOY is at the top of their long-term goals. A full 63% of teens say that having a job or career they enjoy is extremely important while 32% say it is very important. This shows the importance that young people have in finding a job or career they enjoy. I think we sometimes look at young persons and figure they are confused and really do not know what they want in life. I think this shows they are very similar to other generations of Americans and they still have dreams and goals of having a job or career they enjoy at the very top of the list of the things that they desire. It is interesting that only 18% of teens feel it is extremely important to have a lot of money while 33% feel it is very important. That is quite different when you consider how important having a job or career they enjoy is compared to having a lot of money. Of further interest is that the number two most important thing for teens is to help others who are in need and this comes in at 42% as extremely important and 39% as very important. Getting married comes in at 20% as extremely important and 27% as very important while having children comes in at 16% as extremely important and 23% as very important. Only 5% feel becoming famous is extremely important while 6% feel it Is very important. This information clearly shows that having a job or career they enjoy is the number one most important thing for teens as they look to their future.
